CHECK THE NEWS PAGE THINGS ARE CHANGING 3/24/10
We are a husband and wife who for the last 3 years have bought and sold, family type horses, and a few performance horses.  We purchased many horses from sale barns, due to rising cost of fuel and during this time we took great risk to ourselves in evaluating these horses for safety of the general public and inexperienced riders.  We have always strove  to sell sensible horses with good minds at a reasonable price, but times have changed for us, as well as every other horse operation in the United States.  Sale barns are now full of drugged, lame and undesirable horses, that coupled with the new drugs that are out there, we are unable to buy horses at a reasonable price, wait out 30 days for any drugs to wear off and then resale horses at a price to cover any loses we incur on the "horses with issues".  It has without a doubt,  become a "buyers market" and the days of waiting lists for horses is non existent.  That does not mean that "all sale barn horses are bad" it's much easier for people to take their family horses to the sale barn, than it is to sell them from their home.

We don't have the most expensive horses and we don't have the least expensive horses.  We have sensible and sound horses that are evaluated for ability, their mind and the level of rider.

We do our very best to evaluate each and every horse and find any holes in them, before we sale them.  Is there a way to be 100% sure on any horse, No there is not.  We do our best and inevitably if one acts up, it's always when we show it, and you will hear me say,"well, that's a first".  It really does happen that way, but we do try and tell everything we can about a horse in the AMOUNT OF TIME WE HAVE OWNED IT.

We do not drug horses, we do not ride horses down before a potential buyer comes out.  We do lunge every horse before we ride it (for a couple of minutes), because we can tighten the cinch a little faster, than waiting for them to let any air out.

We do, ride every horse, before anyone else, if the horse is going to do something I want one of us on it and not a buyer.  It's a safety issue.  I also want a customer to see how a horse moves before they get on, it's hard to see when your in the saddle.

Everyone, and I do mean everyone, starts in a round pen before going to the arena.  If your not comfortable in the round pen, then your not going to be comfortable out in the open either.  It's a safety issue, horses know when you are nervous and it makes them nervous.  If your comfortable in the round pen, then we move to one of the arena's and then can pasture or trail ride.

Will I sell you a horse that is not suitable for you?  Yes, I will, because I assume once I tell you that the horse is not a suitable mount for the riders ability that as an adult you can make your own choices.  What I have told you, will go on the back of the bill of sale and I will ask you to sign it, and that you understand all things I have told you about the horse you have choosen.  It keeps everyone on the same page and so everyone remembers exactly what was said during the purchase.  Basically it just keeps everyone honest.
